CATTLE DRIVE BACK

Saddle up for the 2010 The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive

A Federal election funding pledge was made regarding the future of The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive. We will advise of further information as we receive it. While we welcome this support, this by no means confirms the date or location of an event possibly planned for 2010, however it is a positive step in the right direction. Details of The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive dates, routes and sale will be announced when possible.

The sun has set on another chapter in the story that is the Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive

The 2007 Cattle Drive departed from the Anna Creek campsite on 21 May, finishing in Marree on 10 June - with all involved hailing it a huge success. More than 300 guests moved 500 herd of cattle 217 kilometres in South Australia's far north.

Visitors from around the world experienced the Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive, including people from New Zealand, USA, UK, Europe, France, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands and Singapore.

The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive offers the experience the journey of a lifetime in the Outback - a place rich in colour, and rich in heroes and identities.

Jan Gemmell and Kerry McComish from New Zealand were typical of the international tourists who flock to the South Australian outback for this adventure.

"We had the most wonderful experience, it was perfect. This trip was more than we ever dreamed it would be. Flawless surrounds, staff always smiling and Outback characters ready to share their story," Jan said.

First created as a tool to market South Australia's Outback both nationally and internationally, The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive continues to promote South Australia as the gateway to the Outback.

In 2007, five-day droving tours were on offer to local, national, and international adventure seekers, reliving the spirit of Australia's famous drovers and experiencing Aboriginal culture - all with a touch of outback luxury. Participants joined one, or more of the four adventure tours: Cattle Kings; Dunes, Springs and Salt Pans; Lake Eyre Encounter and Cattle Drive Roundup.

The Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive 2007 provided participants with an opportunity to escape the noise and stress of modern city life and experience the space, silence, wonder and beauty of the Australian Outback: the geographical and spiritual heart of South Australia, and one of the world's truly unspoilt areas.
